Frequently Asked Questions

Fish are shipped using DX Live Animals Courier, a specialist live animal transport service. Fish are packed in triple-layer oxygenated bags with ammonia absorbers, pH stabilisers and insulated styrofoam boxes. Heat packs or cool packs are used depending on season. Fish are fasted before dispatch to minimise waste and stress during transit.

Yes. We offer a Live Arrival Guarantee, provided the customer records an uninterrupted video of the unboxing showing the sealed bags and the condition of the fish at the time of opening. Any claims must be submitted within 1 hour of delivery.

If a fish arrives deceased or unviable, we will send a replacement of the same or similar species at our expense, including shipping.

Once the fish has been placed into the customer’s aquarium, responsibility transfers to the customer, as we cannot control their water quality, acclimation procedures, tank conditions, stocking, aggression or diseases present within their system.

Delivery times vary from 3 days to 2 weeks, depending on courier scheduling, weather, stock availability and export requirements (where applicable).

Yes. Customers receive an SMS notification the day before delivery confirming that their fish are scheduled for dispatch. In some cases, the courier may also provide a time window on the day of delivery.

Customers must ensure someone is present to receive the shipment, as delays caused by absence can compromise live fish. Responsibility transfers to the customer if the courier attempts delivery and no one is home.

Customers are expected to:

* record the unboxing video
* float the bag for temperature equalisation
* use drip or float acclimation
* avoid feeding for 24–48 hours
* ensure high oxygenation and stable temperature
* keep lights dim to reduce stress

If the fish is alive but appears unwell, the customer must not release it into the main aquarium, and must instead:

* record video evidence
* keep the fish in the shipping bag or quarantine container
* report the issue within 1 hour

Yes, provided the tank is fully cycled. We cannot take responsibility for mortality caused by ammonia or nitrite spikes, unstable pH, insufficient biological filtration, temperature instability or unsuitable tank size.

The customer is responsible for ensuring someone is available to accept the shipment. Failed delivery attempts due to absence can lead to delays which may compromise live fish. Responsibility transfers to the customer in such cases.
